Lost & Found Pets

I've Lost a Pet

If you’ve lost your pet, there are several actions you can take to make sure your pet comes home.

Call Mountain Humane at 208-788-4351 x301 to see if your pet has been brought in to the shelter already.

Post a photo and description of your pet’s last known location on the Mountain Humane Lost & Found and the 5B Pets Facebook pages and check to see if someone has located your pet.

Create signs that you can hang up in your neighborhood.

Check with other regional shelters – it is impressive how fast and far a pet can travel when lost.

Post your lost pet on Petco’s national lost and found database “Pet Love Lost”

What to do if You Find a Stray Cat

Cats wandering outside are usually not far from their homes and are unlikely to be lost. Research shows that cats are 13 times more likely to be reunited with their owners if left in place. Here’s how you can help:

  • If the cat looks healthy and not in imminent danger, i.e., busy road, please leave it where it is/put it back where you found it.
  • Post a picture and description of the cat on Mountain Humane Lost and Found and 5B Pets Facebook pages.
  • Post “Cat Sighting” flyers in your neighborhood with your contact and the date/time/location of the sighting.
