Donor Privacy Policy

Mountain Humane respects the privacy of all donors. We believe in safeguarding personal information and ensuring that donor privacy is protected. Mountain Humane does not rent, sell, give away, trade, or otherwise transfer its donor lists or any information contained on any donor lists to outside parties. Your name, address, and any other personal data you provide will be used only by Mountain Humane to keep you informed of our activities including our programs, special events, and funding needs. If at any time you choose not to receive these communications, you may contact us, and we will remove your name from our mailing list and/or email list.

Electronic Personal Records

Mountain Humane keeps donor information in a protected and secured database. Only authorized personnel have access to this information and only for appropriate business purposes.

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you place an order or enter, submit, or access your personal information.

We offer the use of a secure server. All supplied sensitive/credit information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our payment gateway providers database only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems and are required to keep the information confidential.

After a transaction, your private information (credit cards, social security numbers, financials, etc.) will not be stored on our servers.

Mailing Lists

Mountain Humane does not rent, sell, give away, trade, or otherwise transfer its donor lists or any information contained on any donor lists to outside parties. Donor information is used by our non-profit for charitable purposes only as described above and will not be used by any entity outside of the organization except for trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety.

Authorized Release of Information

To acknowledge donors, Mountain Humane may publish donor names in print or online, including in an annual listing of donors by total gift level in the Annual Report. Any donor may opt out of such a listing by informing development staff of their wishes. All requests by donors for anonymity will be honored, except to the extent required by law. Mountain Humane may be legally required to disclose information on occasion. Mountain Humane complies with all applicable legal requirements and standards.

What information do we collect?

We collect information from you when you place an order, subscribe to our newsletter, or fill out a form. When ordering or registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your: name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number or credit card information. You may, however, visit our site anonymously.

To send periodic emails: the email address you provide for order processing will only be used to send you information and updates pertaining to your order.

We use cookies to help us remember items in your shopping cart, or animal search criteria for adoption or information. We are in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act), we do not collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age. Our website, products and services are all directed to people who are at least 13 years old or older.
